For up to date Spokane wedding inspiration, please visit our new site www.applebrides.com. Alternatively, please feel free to reminisce about our humble origins!
I am so excited to announce that Apple Brides is going to be getting a MAJOR make-over in time for the Bridal Festival this weekend! The new site will have the same local wedding content but be far easier to use, have a better vendor directory and guess what???? DISCUSSION FORUMS! Yep.
The Spokane area’s first and only wedding forums!
I hope that makes you as excited as it would have made me when I was planning my Spokane wedding! This will be an area where the brides (or grooms) in the Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho area can ask each other wedding questions, discuss vendors and talk about the happenings on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills…or another more intellectual TV show (I really shouldn’t push my trashy reality TV addiction on other people.)
As you can imagine there are a whole host of technical stuff to work out before we can go live so please bear with us as my incessantly patient husband makes everything work. If all goes according to plan we will launch the new look on Friday (tomorrow)…sometime…so make sure to check back!
I can’t wait to show you the new site and sincerely hope it makes planning a wedding in Spokane just a little bit easier.

Ok girls! We all know Spokane is very low on wedding planning resources, so when an opportunity to get all of the top wedding vendors under one roof comes up, you should jump at the chance….and I do mean JUMP. That’s why you simply have to come to the Bridal Festival this weekend at the Spokane Convention Center. You can’t afford not to be there, which would be a great line to feed the kicking and screaming H2B (‘husband-to-be’, for all of you lucky enough not to be familiar with online wedding slang).
And guess what???
I am doing my very first blog giveaway for free tickets to the event! All you have to do is head over to the Apple Brides Facebook page and ‘like’ the competition status and you will be entered to win! I will choose the winner tomorrow at
This is the engagement session of Alec and Carrie by Madeline James Photography. It would have been easy for Alec and Carrie to get discouraged because of the snow, cold or gloomy day, but instead they fully embraced the wintry surroundings and got creative in some of Spokane’s most unlikely locations, and thanks to the artful eye of Arah and Julie from Madeline James Photography the shots are amazing!
I hope you all had a great New Year! I celebrated in the Presidential Suite at the Davenport (and just to clarify I was not picking up the tab!) which was simply amazing. I highly recommend it for a bachelorette party or spa weekend. Anywho, the first post for 2011 is a real doozy!
Tri-Cities photographer, Meg Borders of Photography by Meg is responsible for this photo shoot featuring the beautiful bridal headpieces of Gracylu Originals and Snazzie Drawers. Not only are the headpieces elegant and incredibly trendy, Meg’s photography is artistic and perfectly crafted. Meg travels for weddings in Spokane area, and if I were on the hunt for a photographer she would definitely be on my list!
Dan and Haylee’s wedding by Misty Alger Photography is a study in flawless DIY. Everything from the flowers to the dessert table was lovingly created by Haylee and her family, and you would never know! Misty did a fabulous job of capturing the day and all it’s stunning details. The ceremony was at the Spokane LDS Temple and the reception was held at Spokane’s Bozarth Mansion. I always love pictures in front of the floral wall paper at Bozarth, so if your reception is there make sure your photographer gets some. You will thank me later!
Flowers: Costco (put together by Haylee’s florist friend)

As most of you know the annual Bridal Festival at the Convention Center is right around the corner (January 8th and 9th to be exact). This is a great event to nail down all those wedding details, so I hope you will make it a priority to come! Also, I will have a booth there with a pretty sweet competition (more on that later!) and would love to meet each and every one of you!
In anticipation for the big event I asked the Bridal Festival organizer, Tammy Schneider a couple questions about what you can expect.
How long has the Spokane Bridal Festival been around?
This will be our 32nd annual event!
How many area vendors attend?
There will be over 200 wedding professionals.
Will there any freebies up for grabs?
There is over $30,000 in prizes and giveaways to register for including an elegant wedding gown from Storybook Bridal, a men’s diamond band from Pounders Jewelers, a couples journey from Zi Spa, a men’s tuxedo package or four free rentals from Men’s Warehouse, a custom made wedding gown from Rianne’s Bridal valued at $1,500. and a $10,000 diamond from Tracy’s Jewelers & Diamond cyber hunt and an elegant wedding package, plus many more!
What are some practical things brides can get done by attending?
Brides can basically plan their entire wedding all under one roof in one weekend and be able to meet one on one and make choices on who’s the best of the best and who will meet their budget and who is available compared to spending weeks scanning the internet or yellow pages.
Honestly if you are getting married you really can’t afford not to attend! Just the ideas alone, the special offers vendors will have exclusive to this event. It is also so valuable to be able to taste food and cake samples, see flower arrangements, bridal gowns, the latest colors and trends of the season as well as bridal up dos, make-up, and the list keeps going…
ALSO if you pre-order your tickets you can save! So make sure you register at bridalfest.com.
It’s been a great couple days and the turkey coma has FINALLY lifted, so I can get back to work (it was touch and go there for a while…and my expanded waistline is proof)! I hope you all had a very merry Christmas too!
Today I have the glamorous wedding of Joe and Jennifer at Spokane’s Davenport Hotel by Alisha from Haute Pink Photography. All I can say is…shoes. Jennifer’s shoes are amazing! The other thing that makes this wedding cool is the retro tone of the photos by Alisha , I think they work perfectly for the Davenport and wintry theme of the wedding. The Davenport is looking pretty darn good too. And of course it also doesn’t hurt that Jennifer looks like a 1950’s Hollywood starlet (thanks in part to the fab make-up by Shasta Hankins!)….
I am back and getting settled into Spokane life! It’s been great to be here and reacquaint myself with the joys of Division, the Olive Garden and Target at Christmas time. I will be taking the next couple days off but next week will be a big week for Apple Brides, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! Stay tuned!
